Yesterday 30th April, the Center for Fiscal Transparency and Public Integrity (CeFTPI) participated in the official launch of “Trapped in Fragility: An Assessment of the Civil Society Landscape in Nigeria”, a timely and important report published by the West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI).
This report examines capacity gaps, ecosystem dynamics, and offers strategic pathways to resilience within Nigeria’s civil society space. It also highlights the challenges that continue to limit the effectiveness of CSOs in Nigeria, including funding constraints, governance deficits, and a shrinking civic space. These findings point to systemic issues that require urgent and collective action.
At the Center, we recognize the role a strong and well resourced civil society plays in holding the government accountable and ensuring the voices of the citizens are heard.
We commend WACSI for this important contribution to the conversation and urge everyone to get a copy of the synthesized report.
