KIDNAPPING: Police Arrest Ex-Soldier over Kidnap, Murder of Victim in Lafia

The police in Nasarawa State have arrested an ex-soldier, Olu Isaac, for allegedly kidnapping and killing his victim. The Officer in Charge of Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad, (FSARS) in the state, Anuforo Cletus, said the suspect was part of a gang that robbed and abducted a sachet water producer, Mr. Osondu Nwachukwu, in Lafia on October 30. He said the gang, which earlier demanded a ransom of N20 million later agreed to accept N40,000 that was offered, but killed the victim after collecting the money.
Cletus said, some Fulani men living in a nearby farm informed the police who arrested the suspect when he was moving the corpse of the victim in a wheelbarrow. The arrested suspect said he became involved in the crime when he was asked to assist in pushing the wheelbarrow from the farm to dispose the corpse. He said that was when he was arrested while the others escaped.
Wife of the deceased Nnenna Nwachukwu said her late husband was a quiet person. In his reaction, the state Commissioner of Police, Bolo Longe said, the police are on high alert to ensure security in the state. He called on the people to go about their normal businesses and be law abiding.
