1,247 suspected drug dealers have been arrested by the Edo State command of the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency between 2015 and 2018 in the state. The commander, Mr Buba Wakawa said 164.6 hectares of cannabis plantation were destroyed; 726 persons with drug abuse problems were counselled, while 156 drug dealers were convicted in the state.
The Edo state Governor Godwin Obaseki said his administration will work doggedly to reduce drug and substance abuse in the state.
