DRUG TRAFFICKING: 3 Drug Traffickers Arrested at Seme Border with Hemp

Drug distribution or trafficking laws penalize the selling, transportation, and illegal import of unlawful controlled substances, such as marijuana, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamines, and other illegal drugs.

The European Union (EU) had contributed 50 million Euros to the fight against drug use and illicit drug trafficking in West Africa.

The money was meant to fund programmes that will curb the menace of drug abuse. He further explained that the funds were meant for capacity building, tackling drug abuse and trafficking; as well as obtaining valid data and report on drugs.  Sentences for drug distribution and trafficking can generally range from 3-5 years to life in prison, but can be substantially higher when larger quantities are involved.
